Forex EAs and Indicators: What to Check Before Buying

Forex Expert Advisors (EAs) and indicators do different jobs. An EA can place or manage trades according to its programmed rules; an indicator helps you analyse prices. Before choosing either, check the platform, documented behaviour and purchase terms. A product listing or an attractive chart does not establish that a tool will produce reliable trading results.

Check what an EA will do in your account
Forex EA robots operate using predefined rules. Depending on the program, those rules may identify trading signals, submit orders or manage positions. An EA does not necessarily include every one of these functions. Compare the description with the behaviour you need, including when it should stop opening trades.
Automation can reduce the number of manual actions involved in following a strategy. It does not establish that entries are optimal or that every opportunity will be taken. Match an indicator to the question you want to answer

Read the support, update and refund conditions

Is a trading indicator the same as an EA?
No. An indicator analyses prices; an EA can carry out programmed trading actions. Check the product description to establish which functions it provides.
Does being listed in the shop prove an EA has been independently tested?
No. Request the actual test record and its assumptions. A marketplace listing alone does not establish independent verification or future results.
Are all future updates free?
Check the product-specific terms. Do not assume lifetime updates, future features or a particular delivery schedule are included unless the seller states them clearly.
Can I combine any indicator with any EA?
Check the developer’s integration instructions. The EA must be designed to use the indicator’s output; displaying both on a chart is not enough.
